Things I’ve Sewn

  • Everything I sewed this summer (with try on!!)

    Hello everyone,

I’m back (after a little break) sharing with you everything I sewed this summer with a little try on for good measure 😆

I’ll be sharing the sewing pattern, the fabric I used and how I’ve found the garment works in my wardrobe if I’ve had time to wear it.

I still think summer is my favourite season to sew for and this summer was no exception, despite the many heatwaves we had here in the UK! There was just so much inspiration around on the High Street and as always, I enjoyed using some of the patterns I already had in my stash to create something new and a little bit more ‘on trend’.

I hope you enjoy the video and let me know what your favourite piece was, I’d love to know!

What’s your favourite season to sew for?

  • Sew and Tell: My Latest Sewing & Knitting Makes, WIPs, and What I’m Reading

It’s time for another sew and tell! In my latest sewing and knitting catch-up, I’m sharing my finished makes, current works-in-progress, and the books that I’ve been loving (and not loving) lately!

Finished makes: From finished garments to what I’m still working on, I walk through everything I’ve stitched up recently — plus what I’ve loved and found difficult about the patterns I’ve been making.

Knitting WIPs: On the knitting side, I’m deep into a navy jumper with a very relatable problem, I’ve run out of yarn and might need to knit the second sleeve in a different dye lot – help!! Come weigh in in the comments!

What I’m reading: And because no catch-up is complete without book chat, I’m sharing what’s been on my reading pile too.

Grab a cuppa and settle in for the full sewing and knitting vlog — and hit subscribe so you don’t miss the next one.

    Thanks for watching!

  • To Sleeve or Not to Sleeve? Sewing My Dream Gingham Summer Dress

I am absolutely loving all of the gingham dresses around on the High Street at the moment, but for some reason, I’ve always wondered if gingham was for me!

My new sew-with-me follows the whole process of sewing my dream gingham summer dress, doubts included: is this colour actually me, and does it need sleeves or not? I go back and forth more than once (you’ll see it happen in real time), before landing on the final reveal.

If you’ve ever doubted yourself halfway through a project, this one’s for you.

Grab a cuppa, thread up, and sew along — or just enjoy the chaos of me debating my own dress.

    Happy sewing!

  • Sew With Me – Easy, Lined Roman Blind

Have you ever wanted to make blinds for your home but thought they looked a bit too intimidating? I used to feel the same until I gave them a try and realised that actually, it’s just a bit of calculating and a lot of straight sewing!!

In this YouTube video, I’m sharing the process of sewing up a new Roman blind for my daughter’s bedroom using an easy, beginner friendly method. I talk through the different types of Roman blinds you can make, tips for making the process easier and more budget friendly and how I like to choose fabrics to co-ordinate with the room I’m making the blind for.

I really hope today’s video will give you the confidence to try making your own blinds for your home, it really is so satisfying 🙂

    Happy sewing!

  • Re-learning the art of slow sewing (and why you might want to too)…

In a world that moves faster every day, slow sewing feels like a breath of fresh air.

Just before Christmas, I noticed something; I felt like I’d lost the joy I used to find in my sewing and I knew something needed to change. It’s so easy to rush through projects just to tick them off our to-do lists — but what happens when we slow down? When we take time to enjoy the feel of the fabric, focus on each stitch, and savour the rhythm of the process?

Whenever I feel like my sewing joy is slipping away, I always return to smaller, easier, more mindful projects made with beautiful fabrics. A cute toy with pretty accessories, some simple patchwork, a quilted makeup bag, or even a cushion. Projects that don’t ask too much of me, but give a lot back in return.

This week, I deliberately blocked out time in my diary just to sew whatever I fancied making. No big clothing goals. No skill challenges. Just sewing I could sit with and enjoy, without stress or pressure about the end result.

I thoroughly enjoyed this time. It really filled my cup and helped me realise that it wasn’t the sewing process I’d fallen out of love with — it was the pressure of what I thought I should be making.

If you fancy joining me for a couple of afternoons of slow sewing, I share the process in this week’s YouTube video. I sew up a pretty quilted zip pouch and work on my half square triangle quilt, chatting as I go. I’d love to have you sewing along with me on a slow, mindful project.

Let me know in the comments what you love most about slow stitching — or what you’re thinking of sewing next, I’d love to know!

    Happy sewing…
